Alphys understood this time. All the other times before, she didn't get it, but in this instance she understood and agreed completely.
The humans were right to throw away Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2. It was terrible, and she wanted it out of her possession as soon as possible. Alphys had been excited when she found it, but now she knew she must throw it back into the trashy abyss from whence it came. The writers had done terribly with this! Terrible acting, horrid script, and what was with the new uniforms? The animation and design on them were horrible. It was all just a big cash grab. Well, at least she didn't have to pay for it. Alphys tossed the tape over her shoulder, sending it skidding across the water-covered floor of the dump, and was scavenging for something else to watch when she heard a voice.
"Hey, Bratty," said the strange voice behind her, "What's this?"
Alphys turned her head and saw two monsters looking at the cursed tape. One was a cat and the other a crocodile. Well technically, Alphys thought, She could be an alligator, but I haven't seen either one in person, so I wouldn't know...
The girls noticed her. "Hey," said the crocogator monster--Seemingly named Bratty-- to Alphys, "Did you drop this?"
Doom, thought the lizard monster. Not only would she have to talk to these two, but she would have to refuse something from them.
Alphys turned around towards them, and, in the most confident voice she could muster, said "N-no... I-I, I mean, maybe? Uh, quite possibly?" She smiled and laughed weakly in embarrassment as her eyes darted from place to place.
"Well," The cat questioned, "Did you or not?" Both strangers looked confused as Alphys stuttered her response.
"W-well, well, you see..." Alphys cut herself off and took a deep breath. You can do it, Alphys, she thought to herself.
"I dropped it," She stated,
"So it's yours?" asked Bratty.
"N-no, I mean, I guess I still technically own it, but..."
"Just get it out, girl."
"I dropped it on purpose because it's garbage and I hate it," The scientist blurted out very quickly, as if it were one word. Her eyes were closed, as if she were expecting the girls to hit her.
"Well why didn't you say so?" The cat monster laughed and threw the VHS over her shoulder, smiling and walking over to Alphys. She held out her hand. "I'm Catty, and this is Bratty! What's your name?"
Alphys hesitated for a moment. Could she handle this confrontation of friendship? Or should she run away and forget this ever happened?
She held her hand out. "I'm... Alphys."
"Well, Alphys," Catty replied, "I just have one question to ask of you."
"W-what is it?" This can't be good, Alphys thought.
"What is this place? It's super cool!"
"Yeah," Affirmed her friend.
"Oh..." Alphys sighed in relief. "This is the dump. A whole bunch of trash is here, but the humans throw some really cool stuff down, like tapes and food. I-it's nice."
And with that, Alphys proceeded to show her two new friends around the dump. They eventually had to part once Alphys found out they didn't know 'optimism' from 'pessimism,' and although Alphys stopped hanging out with them due to their infuriating lack of certain forms of basic knowledge, Alphys said it was because she was busy.
That was the first of the many lies she told to friends, strangers, and the rest of the world.
